Hi ,
Words are powerful and they are a big part of what we do in
communicating, wouldn't you agree? I know, that's a dumb question!
Let's think about how important the "word process" is in getting
our message communicated to our prospects.
Question I am asked most frequently - where do I start with online
marketing?
When I started online marketing, the best piece of advice I was
given is a two step formula, and it was -
Build a personal website that brands YOU, not your company or
product.
Build a list from that site.
Sounds oversimplified, doesn't it? Well it really is that simple,
and the challenge most people face is that they are not willing to
do the two most important things that they need to in order to be
successful building an online business. Those two things are -
Build a personal website that brands YOU, not your company or
product.
Build a list from that site.
One great piece of advice that I learned from Robert Kiyosaki,
author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and a lot of other books, is to "do
something for the skills it will teach you, not for the money." I'm
paraphrasing, but what I learned from that is if I will just buckle
down and "get 'er done" the rest falls into place, including the
money.
That has proven true.
My first website looked terrible. I still have a printed copy of
it and it inspires me every time I look at it because it shows how
far it's possible to go if you are willing to be BAD, then GOOD,
and then BETTER, then UNSTOPPABLE. But even looking at it now, I
realize that the words were what mattered. And, I am not a trained
writer, by any stretch, but I do know how to share my personal
story and be authentic.
What I realized is that people care a whole lot more about who you
are and what you have to say of value than how fancy and
professional your site looks. Give them something they can relate
to and they will listen. We aren't starved for information, that's
for sure. We are overloaded. What we are starving for is quality
education and information; something we can trust, believe in and
follow.
Invest your time learning and then apply that knowledge to your
business and share it with others.
I started the Guru Mastermind Home Study Course with Eben Pagan two
weeks ago and I can't believe how much I have learned in such a
short time. He is teaching how to create information products, and
I am most interested in how to develop effective content, because
in order to create good information products, you must create good
content.
And, in order to communicate effectively with your prospects for
your business, you must create good content, right? We deliver
content when we speak to prospects; email them; build our website;
write a BLOG or article, etc.
If you follow some of the six and seven figure Network Marketers
who use the internet, you'll notice that his name comes up quite
frequently as someone who they learned the skills for successful
communication from. And, as they say, success leaves clues! So, I
want to learn what they have learned.
One quick nugget I really learned a lot from is telling stories. We
all have heard that facts just tell and stories sell, right? And
think about how true that is. And, let me ask you - how often do
you share stories about your business instead of going on and on
about how great the product is; how perfect this person might be,
etc.
I'll be sharing what I am learning with you over the summer, and I
encourage you to follow Eben as well. He offers some great fr-ee
training, and just did a tele-class last week with Andy Jenkins of
Stompernet.net on Search Engine optimization. Anytime you can learn
from those earning millions annually with their online business,
you will come away with some great ideas. I sure did.
You can learn more about Eben and his course here. It's worth your
time to watch his videos. They are engaging and totally hype free,
which appeals to me.
