When Social Media "came along....."
You know, sites like MySpace (remember THAT one);
and Facebook; Twitter and LinkedIn and so on....
Some people started telling others that these sites
were going to KILL email. That the "List" and the
power behind it would die a slow, quiet death....
And, most of these people saying this were marketing
"systems" to "get you 1,000 followers in 10 minutes";
or "10,000 YouTube views" and so on....
The reality is...nothing could be further from the truth.
Ask anyone with a list, who has built a relationship
with that list.
The goal of social media is to bring people BACK to
your Blog, your List, your Offer; your BUSINESS.
The goal of Social Media is NOT to close the
transaction there.
Here is the key, though....
You MUST become a good communicator
in order to have success ANYWHERE -
Face to Face
Over the Phone
On Social Media
By Email
LEARN the skill of asking questions...
Engaging people...
Creating curiosity...
and making them WANT what you offer...
Here's the thing - it is a LEARNED skill
for most of us. I know it SURE was for me.
I had to really study and LEARN the difference between
marketing and advertising (they aren't the same, in case
you didn't know!)
Today, one of the greatest things you can invest
your time in, if you are building a business....
And you are SERIOUS about your business, is
building a LIST.
An EMAIL list.
People who you can build a relationship with:
share value with and learn from yourself: and,
yes, market to, as well...
Your Twitter following is NOT your list; your
Facebook friends and followers are NOT your
list, or anyone else you are connected to
on Social Media.
They may be ON your list, but make no
mistake, they could go away at anytime...
outside of your control.
So, certainly spend time out on
Social Media, connecting with people
and building true relationships and
friendships. And, make sure you
are creating enough compelling
content and reasons to bring them
back to your blog and YOUR list!
Back to the main point, though -
Building a relationship and rapport with
your list....
To do this, you must truly care about the
success of others; offer ideas and help
that will help them out and shoot straight
with them.

up, and while I might whine to

no reason I couldn't, too!

people into my business, all who came
to me, using the exact techniques I
teach in the e-book.
And, over time, I LEARNED to become
a good communicator. I studied those
who knew what I didn't know and
I took action on that.
Become a good communicator
and you will close more sales, much
more easily and effortlessly than
you ever imagined possible.
