Lessons from annoying skincare people at the mall

You know who I’m talking about, right?

Those slick Italian/European/Suave looking

sales people at the mall who stand at the

entrance to a high end skincare store, and

they sweetly hand you a sample.

When you take it, they say - “hey, come here

and let me get you something for your eyes…”

DON’T DO IT - unless you want to buy.

I call them “annoying” but the truth is, they

are brilliant at their marketing funnel.

Here’s what happened to me when I fell SUCKER

to the game…

He proceeded to treat ONE of my eyes with this

magic “facelift in a bottle” potion…but not the other.

And, I ended up in my Yoga class with one eye

looking “refreshed” and the other feeling jealous!

I felt lopsided!!!

And, more importantly, I learned some good marketing

concepts which I will share with YOU!

First, he gave me something that appeared to be

“no strings” attached, right?

As soon as I allowed him to place that little skincare

sample in my hand, he enticed me in with ANOTHER

freebie.

And, once I was in the store, he used some marketing

magic on me to entice me to BUY.

I didn’t buy because I’m not a fan of those kind

of chemicals in my skincare products, BUT, I learned

some good marketing lessons.

Being interested and a “giver” first is magical

with your target audience.

How are you doing with this?

When you think back on the last 10 conversations

you had with someone on your list, a friend on Facebook

and so on, about your business or your products, how

would you rate it on the “giving” scale?

Are you marketing; asking good questions and determining

if there is a NEED for what you offer?

Or, are you going right for the KILL!!!!!

Do you remember what your prospect’s number 1 question

is?

“What’s In It For ME?”

“Why does this matter to me?”

Something like that.

Think about your own “buying” habits.

If you are like me and have been sucked

into the mall skincare funnel before, you

know what I mean.

Why did you go?

Because you saw some potential VALUE

and something in it for you, right?

Every week, I get emails and Facebook messages

asking me what they are doing wrong with

their marketing.

And, when I take a look at what they are doing,

I see that they are VERY confused on

MARKETING vs SELLING

The cool thing is, what we do online and

offline are interchangeable. Or they should

be.

Learn the skills online and take them offline.

And, learn the skills offline and then take them

online.

have brought them effectively into your

salesy.
